“LUKE”
Calico’s Lovin’ The Spotlight
From our 2006 “big production” litter, Luke is owned and loved by Carol Fullerton. Although he is gorgeous enough to be shown and finished easily, Luke’s calling is in the area of performance and therapy work, and we couldn’t be more pleased with the future plans to have him work in these areas.
March 2008: Luke recently completed certification as a therapy dog through PAL (People Animals Love), an organization based in Washington, D.C. PAL "brings people and animals together, brightening the lives of the lonely, easing the pain of the sick, and enriching the world of at-risk children" (www.peopleanimalslove.com). As a certified member of the PAL Volunteer Corps, Luke and Carol will participate in 2 very different settings - One is a residential treatment center for emotionally disturbed adolescents. It is one of the few off-leash placements where the kids can play with the dogs and throw balls for them etc. under supervision. The other placement is a retirement home where the faces of the residents light up when they look at Luke's face!! Giving such joy to others is far better than any title attainment and we could not be more pleased with this young dog.
